StinkThing senses every visit and reacts automatically — pulling air through a HEPA layer and a special charcoal blend made for litterbox smells, neutralising odours inside the sealed box before it ever reaches the room.
Less smell, more hassle
These are great to automate scooping. However, the plastic drum can be hard to wash and hold onto odours. More skittish cats may find it hard to adapt to the moving parts.
Clean the whole room
They clean the air after odour has already diffused into the room. Most air purifiers also focus on physical particle filtration like hair versus chemical smell neutralisation. (AKA litterbox stink!)

KacauLabs is named after our cat, Kacau, a lovable furball with a stinky litterbox. We couldn't find something that truly worked for both him and us, so we decided to build our own!

StinkThing is a complete system. It comes with its own closed stainless steel litter box, because the sealed design is what makes source neutralisation most effective.
The filter is designed to be refillable to make upkeep more sustainable. The HEPA lasts about 3 to 4 months, depending on how dusty your litter is. Charcoal lasts about 2 months for one cat.
This varies with the type of litter, how many cats you have, and their toilet habits. The app tracks filter health for you automatically and reminds you when it's time to refill.
Yes. There are no major moving parts and the fan runs quietly. For more sensitive cats, Motion only mode runs the fan only after your cat has used the litter box.
You can check your cat's toilet visits, get a health warning if they haven't used the toilet in a while, and control the device: switch modes, set fan speed and the light bar. All data is stored onboard StinkThing and works over your home Wi-Fi.
Automatic litter boxes automate scooping, but most just mask odour with scent and use a rotating drum that some cats find hard to adapt to. Air purifiers clean the whole room, but only after odour has already spread, using generic filters that aren't tuned for litter box smells.
